Before the figures, a little groundwork. This part covers the packages we reach for and the small set of conventions that keep the recipes consistent: how we load and document the data, and the two-step pattern every plot in the book follows. None of it is long, and you can skip ahead to a figure and refer back when something is unfamiliar.
